It's hard to believe that I have been back from India for over 10 days already. NY is hard-core in the winter time. I landed around 8pm, got my bags, headed home, checked some email and was in the office the next day bright and early.
I would often wonder what the point is of taking time off and not working. If I saw someone taking a day off, I would often ask them, why they weren't working. This goes into a deeper philosophical question about what is your purpose and what is the meaning of your work.
Believe it or not, there are people that manage to live their life very aligned by combining their values with their work. There are historical examples like Martin Luther King, Jr. and it's appropriate to recognize him on the eve of his day. There of course is Gandhi and he is still quite revered throughout India and his face is on most of the Rupee bills that I handled.
What about people that we know in our own lives, living today. One person comes to mind immediately, Steve Mariotti of NFTE.com. Steve is selfless, passionate and clearly a genius. His life mission is to empower "at risk" kids and teach them entrepreneurship. Steve's leadership skills are unprecedented and his self-discipline is unmatched.
There are others in the public that are setting great examples, yet I don't know them r don't know them well enough to take the stand. I will also add the caveat now, that I am also looking for people that are doing good things for others and the planet. Michael Jordan is a legendary basketball player. I am and always have been in awe of his raw and developed talent. He was so good that he actually got me interested in basketball and when he retired, I lost interest and have only been to a handful of games since.
My hybrid life demands that I live a simple, small-foot print, green, organic lifestyle while being the best new media advocate on the planet.
Online media is breathtaking and I feel that I am in the epicenter. The industry is fiercely competitive, yet amazingly fair. The reason I call it fair, is because many things can be measured and if you have something that's hot or performs, you will be rewarded.
life calls and this post ends...
